About the course
Manage enteral feeding safely
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Confirm NG tube position correctly using pH testing (never the ‘whoosh’ test)
- Manage PEG / gastrostomy stoma care and daily hygiene
- Check and maintain balloon gastrostomy volume safely
- Administer medication via an enteral tube correctly
- Follow correct flushing protocol before, between and after feeds/medication
- Recognise and respond to aspiration risk
- Recognise signs of tube displacement or migration
- Understand refeeding syndrome risk factors and prevention
- Apply Mental Capacity Act principles to feeding decisions
- Document care in line with NMC standards
