About the course
Safe, dignified moving for the people you care for
This course focuses on the person being moved as much as the person moving. Your team learns why people need assistance, how care plans and communication fit in, and how to use hoists and other aids correctly — then demonstrates it all in the practical. By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Be aware of the definition of manual handling
- Understand the necessity for trained practice
- Understand their responsibilities and the responsibilities of their employer
- Be aware of health issues that may necessitate support
- Understand how to find key information surrounding handling residents
- Understand how to manoeuvre residents safely and with dignity
- Know the correct method for manoeuvring people using a hoist
