About the course

Assess risks with confidence and consistency

This risk assessment training takes your team through the process step by step: the law that governs it, how to identify risks, hazards and near misses, and how to rate them using a matrix. By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Understand what risk assessment is for, and the duties it places on you
  • Tell a hazard from a risk, and recognise a near miss worth reporting
  • Work through the five steps and record findings that people will read
  • Rate risk by likelihood and severity, before and after controls
  • Apply the hierarchy of control, and know why PPE comes last
  • Assess risk with the person, supporting choice as well as safety
  • Use dynamic risk assessment, and know when to withdraw
  • Respond to accidents and illness, record them and trigger a review
