Support people living with dementia and respond safely to behaviour of concern

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Support people with dementia in everyday tasks, nutrition and personal care
  • Know the relevant UK legislation and responsibilities under it
  • Apply person-centred approaches that promote dignity, respect and independence
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with people living with dementia
  • Recognise the different types of behaviour of concern, and their triggers and causes
  • Understand the conflict cycle and assault cycle, and respond safely
  • Apply Positive Behaviour Support and proactive strategies to reduce behaviour of concern
  • Know how and when to escalate concerns and involve the wider care team
