Set up, administer and monitor nebuliser treatment safely
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Understand what a nebuliser is, how it works, and when it differs from an inhaler
- Identify common conditions and medications requiring nebulised treatment
- Name all nebuliser equipment components correctly
- Complete all pre-treatment checks, including consent and capacity considerations
- Set up and administer a nebuliser safely, following the correct procedure
- Monitor and record observations correctly during and after treatment
- Recognise adverse reactions and side effects and respond appropriately
- Clean and store nebuliser equipment in line with infection prevention guidance
- Identify red flags and escalate concerns promptly and appropriately
- Apply learning to realistic scenarios and document actions accurately
