About the course

Recognise psychosis and respond to distress safely

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Describe psychosis as a set of experiences that occurs across many conditions
  • Recognise the early signs, and the change from a person’s own normal
  • Separate a psychotic illness from delirium and other physical causes
  • Respond to a distressing belief without confirming it or arguing with it
  • Support recovery on the person’s terms, and plan while they are well
  • Spot the medication effects that need same-day or emergency action
  • Explain how physical health checks close the mortality gap
  • Escalate to the right service, first time, at any hour of the day
