Urostomy
Urostomy training helps your team understand urostomy care and recognise the signs of infection and complications. They learn to support people living with a urostomy using current best practice and legislation. Understand urostomy care and recognise complications
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Understand what a urostomy is, the two main types, and why one may be needed
- Know what to expect during immediate post-surgical recovery
- Apply best practice for day-to-day stoma, bag and skin care
- Understand how to reduce the risk of urinary tract infection
- Recognise the signs of infection and stoma complications requiring urgent action
- Know when and how to escalate concerns to a stoma care nurse or emergency services
- Understand legal duties around dignity, privacy and person-centred care
- Know how to support emotional wellbeing, including for people living with dementia

Up to 15 delegates per session.
Do delegates receive a certificate?
Yes — every delegate receives a certificate on completion. Certificates are valid for 1 year, so plan refresher training before they expire.
