Advanced adult support and protection training helps your team recognise, respond to and report concerns about adults at risk of harm, in line with Scottish legislation, national guidance and local procedures. It focuses on investigations, case conferences and the 2026 legislative changes. Delivered on-site by our experienced trainers.

Recognise, respond to and report concerns about adults at risk

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Define an adult at risk and explain the three-point test under the 2007 Act
  • Recognise the different categories and indicators of abuse and harm
  • Understand your responsibilities and the key legislation that applies
  • Apply a person-centred, human-rights-based approach to care
  • Respond appropriately to a disclosure, and know what not to do
  • Report a concern correctly using local procedures
  • Understand what happens during inquiries, investigations and case conferences
  • Know when and how to escalate — and overcome fear of whistleblowing
