About the course

Prevent fires and respond correctly when they happen

This course gives your team a solid grounding in fire safety for care settings: how fires start and spread, how to spot and report risks, and exactly what to do when the alarm goes off. By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Explain the fire triangle, and how fires start and spread
  • Identify common fire hazards, at work and at home, and how to reduce them
  • Contribute to fire risk assessment thinking in everyday work
  • Use fire-fighting equipment safely, including extinguisher types
  • Know how to respond to a fire, including RACE and raising the alarm
  • Understand evacuation types, fire drills, and PEEPs
  • Explain the lessons of Rosepark Care Home and Grenfell Tower
  • Know your legal duties, and your employer’s
  • Know when and how to escalate a fire safety concern
