By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Distinguish sex, gender identity, incongruence and dysphoria
  • Use current, professional and non-stigmatising language
  • Assess a statistic before repeating it
  • Explain who is protected by equality law, and on what basis
  • Describe the effect of the 2025 judgment on single-sex provision
  • Apply the duty of confidentiality around gender history
  • Record names, pronouns and care preferences at admission
  • Provide intimate care without assumption or intrusion
  • Treat hormone therapy as a critical medicine and check screening
  • Support identity through dementia and plan ahead with the person
