By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Explain what Parkinson’s is, and what causes the symptoms
  • Recognise the three defining motor symptoms
  • Identify the non-motor symptoms staff most often miss
  • Know when the picture may not be idiopathic Parkinson’s
  • Understand how the diagnosis is made and reviewed
  • Give medication within the prescribed time window
  • Know what to do when someone cannot swallow
  • Challenge medicines that should not be given
  • Support mobility, eating, drinking and communication
  • Plan ahead for capacity, treatment and the end of life

How long is the Parkinson’s Awareness course?

It runs as a half day – 3 hours course, delivered in one visit unless stated otherwise.
