Understand why falls happen and prevent them
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Explain the UK legislation and CQC standards that govern falls management
- Recognise the personal and environmental risk factors that cause falls
- Apply NICE-recommended measures to help prevent falls
- Respond safely and correctly when a resident falls
- Complete accident, incident and post-falls monitoring records correctly
- Carry out and review a multifactorial falls risk assessment (MFRA)
- Use mobility aids, bed rails and assistive technology safely
- Recognise when a fall may signal a wider health concern
- Report and learn from falls to help reduce future risk
