Train fully qualified workplace first aiders
First Aid at Work is the most comprehensive of our first aid courses, designed for staff who will act as the appointed first aiders for their workplace. Across three days, delegates learn to assess emergency situations safely and give confident first aid for injuries and major illness — practising every skill on manikins and each other under the trainer’s guidance.
What you’ll cover
Full course content
Three days take delegates from the role of the first aider through injuries and illness of increasing severity, with practical work every day.
Day 1 — The Essentials
- Role and responsibilities of first aiders
- Situation assessment: scene and primary surveys
- The unconscious casualty: CPR and the recovery position
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock
- Minor injuries
Day 2 — Injuries
- Secondary survey and casualty history
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries — including applying a sling
- Head and spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Serious burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
Day 3 — Illness & Emergencies
- Poisoning
- Anaphylaxis and use of an auto-injector
- Recognising heart attack, stroke, seizures, asthma attacks and diabetic emergencies
- Administering first aid for each major illness
