Fire Marshal

Fire marshal training gives your fire marshals the legal knowledge and hands-on skills to prevent fires and fulfil their fire safety duties. They learn to respond safely and effectively if a fire does happen, including evacuating residents, in line with current UK fire safety law. Delivered on-site by our experienced trainers, with practical work wherever the subject allows.

About the course

Prevent fires and respond safely if one happens

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Understand the fire triangle and the main causes of fire in care home settings
  • Know their responsibilities as a Fire Marshal, including risk assessments, equipment checks and fire drills
  • Understand key fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Apply practical measures to prevent fire, including electrical safety and safe storage of hazardous substances
  • Select the correct fire extinguisher or fire blanket for a given type of fire
  • Apply the FIRE action plan and know how to safely sweep a door before going through it
  • Understand PEEPs, the grab bag, and the difference between zonal and full evacuation
  • Know how to use evacuation equipment such as ski pads and evacuation chairs to move non-ambulant residents
